Men's Lacrosse Upsets #7 RIT 11-10

Matt Nelligan scored his team-leading 27th goal of the season against #7 RIT
ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomore Matt Nelligan (Pingree School/Rowley, Mass.) scored five goals to lead the Bombers (7-3, 4-0 Empire 8) past seventh-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology.
 
Sophomore Logan Bobzien (Arapahoe/Littleton, Colo.) and senior Brandon Geluso (Haborfields/Greenlawn) each registered two goals and an assist. Senior Doug Lumb (Auburn/Auburn) recorded a career-high three assists. Freshmen Mike Cintineo (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) and Alec Siefert (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.) both added one goal.
 
Junior Dennis Butler (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) made 14 saves.
 
RIT (10-2, 3-1 Empire 8) scored the first three goals of the contest only to see the Bombers respond by scoring nine of the next 10 goals and take a 9-4 advantage. RIT, who entered the game ranked third in Division III in scoring offense, would tie the game by scoring the next five goals. Bobzien and Geluso scored the next two goals before the Tigers added one last goal with over four minutes remaining. The Bombers’ defense was able to hold on for the victory. Ithaca has won its last 13 conference games and has not lost to RIT since 2000.
 
The Bombers travel to Oneonta on Saturday to face-off against Hartwick in a conference game at 1 p.m.
